You know you are slightly obsessed with running when you can't put a book about a runner down. I am not the fastest reader and really don't read that much unless it's a book I am reading for a retreat or something else. Though since having kids I have been reading more books for
time out quiet time. Mel lent me a great book,
"Ultramarathon Man: Confessions of an All-Night Runner" by Dean Karnazes. This is such an easy read. I am a slow reader and this book was finished in 3 days. I couldn't put the book down. Maybe my endurance through running has made me a faster reader? Maybe?!? I'm not sure if it's just a great book because I just watched his DVD or what, but definitely worth the read. He brings up some great points and just to read what he has done is downright AMAZING. He pushes his body to places I couldn't even imagine. His story is so inspiring even if I never run an ultra marathon. It's so enjoyable reading stories about how people started running. We all have stories of our own and can relate on some level with any runner which makes this community of runners so exciting.
OK so the continuation of
"TAPER MADNESS"...finalizing some things for marathon day. If you didn't already know...
Marathon WEEK is next week. Can't wait for the expo, the bloggy pack meet up for carbo loading Friday night (if you are in Seattle and want to join us, please let me know), and all the other great stuff Marathon Week has in store for me.
We need to figure out a bloggy meet up at the starting line. I would hate to miss those of you who can't make Friday night dinner. I would say lets meet at the Porta-potties but since there is a few hundred of them...that could be a BIG problem. There is a
Starbucks there? Maybe in the parking lot. WE need a BLOGSPOT sign?!?!? Any takers on meeting up race day to get a picture and a short meet and greet?
More Marathon advice is needed, but I think I will wait for tomorrows post for that. I have all sorts of questions on products. I know you are never supposed to try anything new, but...well that's why I will blog about it later.
Today I will be running my last long run of 8-10 miles...Wowzer! Watch out.

Enjoy the last long run and relax! You are super ready for this. Hope you see lots of bloggy friends. Unfortunately I'm on the other side of the planet, but I'll be there in spirit.
YAY - marathon week next week! So proud of your accomplishment! I can't wait to see your race report. I am considering a marathon this fall, would be my first. I think I can handle it - but as you know your mental game has to be ready as well. Congrats on all of your training and enjoy the week ahead.... you put in the work - you will do GREAT!
I would LOVE to have a meet up somewhere race day since I can't be there on Friday. Maybe it will be a great distraction to my sure to be blazing nerves! Just let me know when/where. Love your excitement...I am so excited too!
Maybe I can be the bloggy wrangler. I can't stay till the end, but I can definitely be there early. Let me look at the start time/place, etc. I WILL be there Friday night -- living vicariously through you all.
I love your blog! I am running my first marathon at Rock N Roll as well! I run about the same pace..so who knows I might see you along the course!! :)
YAY for Seattle Marathon next week!! I cannot believe that at this time next week I will be in Seattle!! AAAHHHHH!!
I think a bloggy meet up would be awesome before the start! I'm sure I'll need some good advice I'll be all sorts of nerves that day! lol
I love reading running books - definitely get sucked in and can't put them down. I haven't read ultramarathon man, but did read 50/50 and enjoyed it.
You are so ready for next week, Jill! And of course I'll be around on Friday and Saturday morning for some pre-race laughter (it IS the best for jittery nerves!).
:)
Yes, I will be at the dinner on Friday night! It will be so great to meet you! AND good luck to you! I am sure we will devise some way at the dinner to meet up at the start line.
Yes we should find a weet up spot before. It may be best to try to meet by a numbered Corral. Like Corral 6 which is near the start line. That way we could get a photo op near the start.. Just an idea.
I am thinking after the Marathon we plan to meet at the B family meet up section. B for Blogger??
Glad you like the book and movie, pass it back and I will share it with more :)
